‘Malcolm in the Middle’ Revival Begins Filming This Week with Original Cast Members Returning

Filming for the highly anticipated 'Malcolm in the Middle' revival is set to begin this week in Vancouver, marking the return of the beloved sitcom nearly two decades after its conclusion.
Frankie Muniz reprises his role as Malcolm, joined by Bryan Cranston and Jane Kaczmarek as Hal and Lois, and other returning cast members including Christopher Masterson and Justin Berfield.
Erik Per Sullivan, who played Dewey in the original series, will not return; the role has been recast with Caleb Ellsworth-Clark stepping in as the character's adult version.
The revival introduces new characters, including Malcolm's daughter Leah, played by Keeley Karsten, and the family's youngest sibling Kelly, portrayed by Vaughan Murrae.
The four-episode series, written by original creator Linwood Boomer, will focus on Malcolm and Leah navigating family chaos during Hal and Lois’ 40th wedding anniversary celebration, with a premiere expected later in 2025.
