Delhi Cabinet Approves Ayushman Bharat Scheme and Tabling of 14 Pending CAG Reports

In its first meeting, the Rekha Gupta-led government fulfills key campaign promises, reversing decisions by the previous AAP administration.

  • The Delhi government, under Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, has approved the implementation of the Ayushman Bharat health insurance scheme with an additional ₹5 lakh top-up for residents.
  • The scheme had been previously blocked by the AAP government, which argued it would downgrade existing healthcare benefits in the capital.
  • The new Cabinet also announced the tabling of 14 pending Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) reports in the Delhi Assembly, including one on the controversial scrapped liquor policy.
  • The BJP had made the implementation of Ayushman Bharat a key electoral promise, contrasting it with the AAP's opposition to the scheme.
  • The Gupta government emphasized its commitment to fulfilling its promises and outlined an agenda focused on development and transparency.
