Babol is a city in, and the capital of, the Central District of Babol County, Mazandaran province, Iran, and also serves as capital of the county. Babol is divided into two metropolitan areas.
At the 2006 census, its population was 198,636 in 55,943 households. The following census in 2011 counted 219,467 people in 67,069 households. The latest census in 2016 showed a population of 250,217 people in 81,572 households.
