Overview

  • Harvard's expanded financial aid program will benefit approximately 86% of U.S. families, beginning in the 2025-2026 academic year.
  • Families earning $100,000 or less will have all billed expenses covered, including tuition, housing, food, health insurance, and travel costs.
  • Students from families earning $100,000 or less will also receive a $2,000 start-up grant in their first year and a $2,000 launch grant in their junior year.
  • The initiative follows similar financial aid expansions by institutions like MIT and the University of Pennsylvania, and comes after the Supreme Court's ruling against affirmative action.
  • Harvard will allocate $275 million for financial aid in the upcoming academic year, supported by its over $50 billion endowment.
