Zubeen Garg Case: Family Files CID Complaint as Assam Launches Separate Financial-Crimes Probe

Investigators are questioning associates, freezing assets, issuing travel alerts and awaiting forensic results from Singapore.

Overview

  • Garg’s wife, sister and uncle submitted a complaint to the Assam CID naming organiser Shyamkanu Mahanta and manager Siddharth Sharma and asking that everyone present in Singapore be questioned and the singer’s records secured.
  • A CID-SIT team visited the family home in Guwahati to record statements, while actress Nishita Goswami and co-musician Shekhar Jyoti Goswami appeared for questioning following fresh summons.
  • Assam Police registered CID case no. 18/2025, issued look-out notices for Mahanta and Sharma, froze Mahanta’s bank accounts and directed both to appear in Guwahati by October 6, with the chief minister saying INTERPOL has been contacted to monitor movements.
  • A separate CID investigation targets alleged financial irregularities linked to Mahanta after raids seized multiple PAN cards for one firm, 28–30 stamp seals and documents tied to suspected benami properties, with an additional SP named as investigating officer.
  • Singapore’s death certificate lists drowning; a second autopsy was conducted at GMCH and viscera sent to CFSL Delhi to test for toxins, with reports and information requests to Singapore still pending.
