Overview
- Rides are limited to designated pickup and drop-off zones at select destinations such as Resorts World Las Vegas, AREA15, Luxor, New York-New York and Topgolf.
- About 50 purpose-built vehicles are deployed across Las Vegas and San Francisco, with most in Nevada, and trips are requested through the Zoox app at no charge for now.
- NHTSA recently granted Zoox an exemption allowing public demonstrations of its custom robotaxis, which does not authorize commercial operations or fare collection.
- Zoox has opened a San Francisco waitlist and says service there will follow very soon, with further expansion eyed for Miami, Austin, Atlanta and Los Angeles.
- The bidirectional vehicles lack manual controls, seat four passengers facing each other and carry a heavy sensor suite, and the company notes it has issued software updates after prior testing incidents.
