Overview
- At D23 in August, Walt Disney Animation announced that Zootopia 3 is in early development and that birds will play a major role in the next film.
- The studio screened an exclusive extended sequence at the Honda Center that confirmed the avian focus and prompted visible excitement from cast and fans.
- Key voice actors are expected to return, including Ginnifer Goodwin as Judy Hopps and Ke Huy Quan as Gary De’Snake, and the cast have begun pitching ideas for how birds fit into the story.
- Disney has not announced a release date, a full cast list, or a formal plot, and the project remains in early, multi‑year development.
- Filmmakers say adding birds will broaden worldbuilding after mammals and reptiles, open new environments and storylines, and let the franchise continue using species interactions to examine social themes.
