Overview
- Zomato launched a pilot of 300 electric rental bikes for delivery partners in Delhi NCR on June 5, marking its first on-demand EV scheme.
- The company plans to expand the rental service nationwide based on partner uptake as it works toward a fully electric fleet by 2030.
- As of March 2025, Zomato reported over 37,000 active EV-based delivery partners, with electric bikes making up roughly 10% of its current fleet.
- Zomato’s EV riders helped avoid about 4,900 tonnes of CO2 equivalent in FY25, equivalent to planting some 220,000 trees, while EVs also reduce per-kilometer delivery costs.
- Competitor Swiggy has also accelerated electrification, teaming up with SUN Mobility to convert more than 15,000 bikes ahead of India’s 30% EV adoption target for 2030.
