ZMVM Keeps Regular Hoy No Circula for Sept. 1; No Double Restriction

CAMe reported air quality below contingency thresholds thereby leaving authorities to apply the ordinary pink-sticker schedule.

Overview

  • Authorities applied the standard Tuesday restriction on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, barring hologram 1 and 2 vehicles with a pink engomado and plate endings 7 or 8 from 05:00 to 22:00 across the Zona Metropolitana del Valle de México.
  • The Comisión Ambiental de la Megalópolis and the Dirección de Monitoreo Atmosférico reported acceptable ozone and IMECA readings so they did not activate a contingency or the expanded 'Doble Hoy No Circula'.
  • Exempt vehicles include those with holograms 00 and 0 plus qualifying electric and hybrid models and other official exception categories, while cars without valid verification remain prohibited from circulating Monday through Saturday.
  • Enforcement continues with authorized transit officers and municipal police able to issue fines that range from 20 to 30 UMAs in CDMX and 20 UMA in the State of Mexico and with possible vehicle remittance to the corralón for violations.
  • If IMECA readings rise above contingency thresholds in coming days the program can escalate to Preventiva or Fase 1 and expand restrictions to additional holograms including parts of 00/0 and all holograma 2 vehicles which would increase travel disruption and demand for public transit.
