Zizzi recalls vegan pizza over undeclared milk risk

An FSA alert warns the mislabelled batch may harm consumers with dairy allergies or intolerances.

Overview

  • The Food Standards Agency and Zizzi announced on May 28 that batch code 5105 of the Vegan Jackfruit Pepperoni Rustica Pizza, with a July 15, 2026 best-before date, is being recalled for potential milk contamination.
  • The 400 g frozen pizzas include an 8 ml chilli oil and are sold at Tesco, Morrisons and Waitrose for about £3.50 with clubcard discounts.
  • Zizzi has placed point-of-sale notices in affected stores and advises anyone with milk allergies or intolerances to return the product for a full refund without a receipt.
  • Undeclared milk in the mislabelled vegan pizza could trigger stomach pain, bloating, diarrhoea, constipation or sickness in sensitive individuals.
  • The restaurant chain says it is working with retail partners to strengthen labelling controls and prevent similar errors.
