Overview
- The hall reopened on 13 December with an open day and children’s event, and the first laps were taken by Berliner Bäder trainees and members of Aqua Berlin Hohenschönhausen.
- The partial renovation began in September 2023 and cost about €6.8 million from the state budget, staying within the planned funding despite a longer-than-planned schedule.
- Upgrades include a stainless-steel main pool, an insulated roof with photovoltaic panels, modernized building services and lighting, barrier-free access, and renewed changing and sanitary areas.
- Berliner Bäderbetriebe expects roughly 10% energy savings from the new technology, and the operator says the reopening will ease pressure on other pools.
- Public swimming is available exclusively through the end of December with extended hours, with sports clubs returning in January 2026 and schools resuming after the winter break.
