Overview

  • The pact covers more than 300 quality-assurance testers at ZeniMax studios and guarantees wage increases, minimum salaries and formal crediting procedures.
  • ZeniMax Workers United-CWA was formed in 2023 under Microsoft’s labor neutrality deal with the Communications Workers of America and won voluntary recognition soon after.
  • Negotiations included a one-day strike in November 2024, an April 2025 strike authorization vote and a CWA filing alleging unfair labor practices to press for outsourcing and job security protections.
  • Full membership will vote on ratification in late June, with the outcome expected to set benchmarks for contract talks at other Microsoft-owned teams such as Blizzard and Raven Software.
  • This marks Microsoft’s first collective bargaining agreement since the video game union movement began, potentially shaping future deals across the industry.
