Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has dismissed Major-General Tetiana Ostashchenko, the commander of the Armed Forces Medical Forces, amid criticism over the quality of medical supplies for soldiers.
Zelenskyy has called for rapid operational changes to the military's medical support, including improved tourniquets, full digitalisation, and better communication.
The dismissal coincided with a debate over the slow progress of the Ukrainian forces in the south and east during a months-long counter-offensive against Russia.
Zelenskyy has denied that the war is headed into a stalemate, despite claims to the contrary by Ukraine's commander-in-chief, General Valery Zaluzhny.
Ostashchenko's replacement is Major-General Anatoly Kazmirchuk, the head of Kyiv's main military clinic.
