Overview
- ZDF announced the new show on Thursday, September 24, 2026, naming 47‑year‑old cabaretist Florian Schroeder as host and confirming an initial run of four episodes.
- The pilot will be available on ZDF streaming platforms from October 29 at 18:00, will air on 3sat on October 30 at 0:05, and will debut in ZDF’s late‑night linear slot on November 3 at 0:45.
- ZDF describes the format as "anarchic, playful and accessible," and Schroeder says the show will introduce a "new satire colour" that is more liberal and open to new voices.
- Coverage presents 'Journal Deluxe' as a potential successor to Jan Böhmermann’s 'ZDF Magazin Royale', which is ending and whose host is set to leave in December.
- ZDF has not announced dates for the remaining three episodes, and the programme’s multi‑platform rollout will serve as the immediate test of whether the format will continue beyond the four planned shows.
