Overview
- Developers released the Udon Rust crate and began merging Project Tachyon’s recursive-proof code into Zakura Common, a step that started publicly on Sept. 28 and makes the work available to other Zcash developers.
- Udon adapts Pasta-curve and Halo 2 arithmetic for recursive proving and slots into Zakura’s Ironwood-compatible environment so future implementations can build aggregated proofs more easily.
- Project Tachyon aims to let many shielded payments share one proof using proof-carrying data, with a public target above 50,000 shielded transactions per second.
- Current work is purely development-stage: the code migration does not activate Tachyon on mainnet and the project still needs formal audits, independent review, wallet and node integration, protocol specs, and community approval before any network switch.
- If successful, Tachyon’s PCD design would limit validator state growth and lower hardware demands for nodes, which could ease institutional participation, but published gains so far come from internal tests and on-chain shielded volumes remain far below the target.
