Zara and The North Face Announce Closures in San Francisco's Union Square

The iconic retailers join a growing list of stores leaving the city's historic shopping district amid a retail exodus.

The North Face will close its only San Francisco store in Union Square at the end of March, marking an end to its presence in the city.
Macy's has also announced plans to close its flagship Union Square store, part of a broader trend of retail closures in the area.
Union Square's availability rate has soared to 22%, nearly four times the rest of the city, as major retailers and local businesses exit.
Efforts are underway to revitalize the Emporium Centre and attract new tenants, with a focus on security improvements and neighborhood enhancements.
