Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Plant Restores 750 kV Line, Now Powered by Two External Lines

The return of the Dniprovska link reduces the facility’s vulnerability exposed by last week’s automatic shutdown.

Overview

  • The plant said the 750 kV Dniprovska line has been brought back online and, together with Ferrosplavnaya-1, is supplying the station’s own needs.
  • Communications director Yevgenia Yashina confirmed both high-voltage feeders are in operation following the reconnection.
  • The Dniprovska feeder tripped on November 14 due to protective automation, while the second line maintained essential power.
  • The station reported that radiation levels on-site and in surrounding areas remain normal and within natural background values.
  • Earlier this autumn the plant operated for 30 days on diesel during a full loss of external power that IAEA chief Rafael Grossi called unprecedented; access for November 8 repairs was secured via an IAEA-arranged local ceasefire, and the plant later alleged renewed shelling of Enerhodar after the work.
