Zack Steffen Transfers from Manchester City to Colorado Rapids
The American goalkeeper signs a three-year contract after a stint at Middlesbrough and recovery from knee surgery.
- American goalkeeper Zack Steffen has transferred from Manchester City to Major League Soccer side Colorado Rapids, signing a three-year contract with an option to extend for an additional year.
- Steffen, who has 29 caps for the United States, spent the 2022-23 season on loan at Middlesbrough in the second-tier Championship, making more than 40 league appearances.
- Steffen had arthroscopic knee surgery last summer to repair longstanding wear and tear and returned to training in late October after a 2 1/2-month layoff.
- Steffen played in just 21 total matches during his time with City, including nine in the FA Cup, seven in the League Cup, two in the Champions League and one in the Community Shield.
- Steffen was left off the 2022 U.S. World Cup roster by coach Gregg Berhalter in favor of Matt Turner, Ethan Horvath and Sean Johnson.
