Zack Snyder's 'Rebel Moon' Set for Limited 70mm Theatrical Release Before Netflix Debut, Shares Universe with 'Army of the Dead'
Sci-fi epic "Rebel Moon - Part One: A Child of Fire," slated for exclusive one-week 70mm release starting Dec. 15, features a shared universe with Snyder's "Army of the Dead" series and will also introduce two different cuts of the film: a PG-13 version and an R-rated, with extended footage.
- Producer Zack Snyder has revealed that his new sci-fi epic, 'Rebel Moon - Part One: A Child of Fire,' will get a one-week pre-streaming 70mm theatrical engagement before its Netflix premiere, playing in select theaters from Dec. 15-21 before launching on Netflix Dec. 22.
- Creating a connection between his works, Snyder has announced that 'Rebel Moon' features a shared universe with his popular 'Army of the Dead' series, with a character from an unproduced animated spinoff of 'Army of the Dead' set to appear in 'Rebel Moon' through the use of a dimensional portal.
- 'Rebel Moon' stars actress Sofia Boutella and follows the story of a young woman who is charged with the task of forming a group of warriors to combat a tyrannical invader threatening her peaceful colony.
- Snyder, known for his preferance towards longer runtime and extended content, will release two different cuts of 'Rebel Moon' — a PG-13 version and a more violent R-rated version with nearly an hour of extra footage.
- Following the premiere of the first part of 'Rebel Moon' in December 2023, the second chapter of the film, named 'The Scargiver,' is slated for an April 2024 release.
