Yvelines College Renamed to Honor Samuel Paty

The Bois d'Aulne College in Conflans-Sainte-Honorine will be officially renamed after the murdered teacher, following unanimous approval by the departmental council.

The Yvelines departmental council voted unanimously to rename the Bois d'Aulne College as the Samuel-Paty College.
The decision aligns with previous votes by the college's administration and the Conflans-Sainte-Honorine municipal council.
A ceremony to unveil the new name is planned for spring 2025, marking the fourth anniversary of Paty's assassination.
Three associations of parents expressed regret over not being included in the renaming process, emphasizing the impact on students who experienced the tragedy.
Samuel Paty was killed in 2020 for showing caricatures of Prophet Muhammad during a lesson on freedom of expression.
