Guanajuato is running drills to keep the pest out through 24/7 highway checks.

  • Yucatán logged 71 new screwworm detections in the past week, bringing the total to 658 cases across 77 municipalities, according to the state rural development agency.
  • Senasica reports 6,703 animal cases nationwide from Nov. 21, 2024 to Sept. 13, 2025, with most infections in cattle.
  • Federal officials say cases have been confirmed in Campeche, Yucatán, Quintana Roo, Chiapas, Tabasco, Veracruz and Oaxaca, with additional detections in Puebla.
  • A Senasica-led exercise in Celaya trained 70 ranchers on field inspection, diagnosis, sample collection and wound care, while Guanajuato maintains 15 highway verification points and mobile units with no confirmed cases to date.
