  • The AI system will launch on August 13 for a limited cohort of U.S. users.
  • It analyzes usage signals such as activity history, account age and other indicators to infer if a user is under 18.
  • Accounts identified as minors will automatically receive non-personalized ads, digital-wellbeing prompts and limited content recommendations.
  • Users flagged as underage will get notifications and can verify their age by uploading an ID, a selfie or a credit card.
  • Google intends to expand the functionality to more U.S. users and bring similar protections to products like Maps and the Play Store.
