YouTube Lets Users Set a Zero-Minute Limit to Hide Shorts

The rollout extends a parental control to all accounts to give people a built-in way to curb short-form scrolling.

Overview

  • YouTube says the zero-minute Shorts timer is live for parents and is rolling out to all users on Android and iOS.
  • Setting the limit to zero hides the Shorts tab and often removes Shorts from the Home feed once the limit is reached.
  • The app still shows Shorts in the Subscriptions feed and lets you open individual Shorts from links.
  • You can enable it in Settings under Time management by toggling Shorts feed limit and selecting 0 minutes.
  • The change updates a timer first announced in October 2025 that had a 15-minute minimum and shows YouTube giving users more control without dropping Shorts.
