YouTube Adds Custom Feeds and Moves Subscriptions to Top Bar

The change hands users written prompts to build persistent, editable recommendation streams and will expand beyond an initial US English rollout.

Overview

  • YouTube began rolling out Custom Feeds on mobile and desktop in the United States on Oct. 22–23, 2026 for signed‑in English‑language users aged 13 and up with watch and search history enabled.
  • Custom Feeds let users type natural‑language prompts to create saved Home‑feed streams that update automatically and can be edited or removed by the user.
  • Created feeds appear as top tabs, sync across devices when signed into the same Google account, and expire after 30 days of inactivity unless used again.
  • Free accounts can save up to three active custom feeds and YouTube Premium members can save up to eight, and the Home tab’s new top bar also adds Live, Music, and Movies & TV shortcuts with Subscriptions relocated there.
  • YouTube presents the features as returning control of the homepage to viewers, and says it will roll the changes out to more regions after the initial US release.
