Youngstown, Liberty Host Belmont Avenue Corridor Study Open House Tonight

Overview

  • The public session begins at 6 p.m. on Oct. 30 at the Jewish Community Center of Youngstown, 505 Gypsy Lane.
  • The Belmont Avenue study area spans State Route 193 from West Federal Street downtown to the Interstate 80 interchange.
  • Organizers say input will guide strategies for design standards, streetscape upgrades, vacancy reduction and increased corridor visibility.
  • The Build Better Belmont effort brings together partners including the City of Youngstown, Youngstown CityScape, Eastgate Regional Council of Governments and WRTA.
  • Background work includes a 2016 safety study citing 39 crashes in three years at Belmont and Churchill Hubbard Road and a 2023 Liberty Township session focused on pedestrian and bicycle access.
