Overview

• Individual filers are eligible for $200 and joint filers for $400 if they had 2024 tax liability and file by Nov. 3, 2025, with some extension filers possibly due Nov. 1.
• An online tool to check eligibility goes live Thursday, Sept. 25, at tax.virginia.gov/rebate.
• Rebates for taxpayers who filed before July 1 will be sent by Oct. 15 and are expected to arrive by the end of October.
• Payment method will mirror this year’s state refund: direct deposit to the same account or a mailed paper check if no direct deposit was used.
• Any unpaid state or local debts will be offset from the rebate first, and Virginia Tax will notify filers if the full amount is applied to outstanding balances.
