• Bremerhaven fire department captured the young seal at 8:15 AM Friday after it climbed a dike slope and wandered toward the Sail City Hotel
• Crews used a special transport box to carry the pup to the firehouse before handing it over to staff from Norddeich Seal Station
• Initial assessments by firefighters found the seal in good condition with no visible injuries
• Norddeich experts will oversee its care, monitor its recovery and prepare it for eventual release back into the wild
• Seals straying into urban Bremerhaven are extremely rare and the animal’s mother has not yet been located
