Young Karnataka IPS Officer Dies in Road Accident Before First Posting

Harsh Bardhan, a 26-year-old probationary officer, succumbed to injuries after a tire burst caused his police vehicle to crash en route to Hassan district.

Harsh Bardhan, a 2023-batch IPS officer from Madhya Pradesh, was traveling to assume his first role as Assistant Superintendent of Police in Holenarasipur, Karnataka.
The accident occurred near Kittane on the Hassan-Mysuru Highway when a tire burst caused the police vehicle to lose control and crash into a house and tree.
Bardhan sustained severe head injuries and passed away despite being rushed to the hospital, while the driver suffered minor injuries.
Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and other officials expressed condolences, mourning the loss of a promising young officer dedicated to public service.
Concerns about the safety standards of Mahindra Bolero vehicles, commonly used by police, have been raised following the incident.
