Yotsuba Milk Products Recalls 82,624 Pancake-Mix Packs After Insect Discovery

The contract manufacturer says contamination likely occurred during raw-material input, with a hotline open as stock is removed in Hokkaido and at Tokyo direct stores.

Overview

  • Yotsuba’s voluntary recall targets buttermilk pancake mix in 450 g and 150 g packs that remain within their expiration dates.
  • Most affected units were shipped to Hokkaido retailers, with some sold at Yotsuba-operated stores in Tokyo.
  • An insect species associated with stored grains was found during pancake preparation at a Yotsuba direct store.
  • Contract maker Ebetsu Seifun is also recalling 8,544 units sold under its own labels, including two sizes of Oyatsu-in (500 g and 1.5 kg) and 100% HOKKAIDO Pancake Mix (450 g).
  • No illnesses or regulatory actions have been reported, and both companies say they are investigating and strengthening quality controls; inquiries are handled at 0120-660-508 on weekdays from 9:00 to 17:00.
