Yoox Halts Plan to Cut 211 Jobs in Italy After Minister Steps In

The company agreed to a ministry‑brokered negotiation with unions under a set timetable that culminates in a Nov. 18 review.

Overview

  • The collective dismissal procedure was suspended with immediate effect, the Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy said.
  • Yoox accepted Minister Adolfo Urso’s invitation to seek shared solutions with unions, and he called the decision a step in the right direction.
  • Company‑level meetings are scheduled for Oct. 9, 16, 22, 30 and Nov. 5 and 10, with a reconvening at the ministry on Nov. 18 to present results.
  • The talks will also examine the company’s industrial situation, according to the ministry.
  • Strikes began on Sept. 8 in Bologna and later extended to Milan as unions alleged legal notification failures and a lack of use of social safety nets.
