Overview

  • Special prosecutor Cho Eun-suk’s team filed for Yoon’s arrest on five counts including abuse of power, falsifying martial law documents, obstructing investigators, deleting military phone records and ordering false statements to foreign media.
  • Yoon attended the 2:15 p.m. hearing at Seoul Central District Court and will await the court’s decision at Uiwang Detention Center.
  • Prosecutors allege he limited Cabinet participation in a Dec. 3 meeting, backdated a martial law decree signed by senior officials and ordered security agents to block detentions.
  • His legal team rejected all charges and called the arrest request excessive and unsupported by evidence.
  • A detention order would return Yoon to custody amid his ongoing insurrection trial, with the court’s ruling expected late Wednesday or early Thursday.
