- Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath chaired a high-level review on Friday and directed officials to make devotee safety, dignity and convenience the top priority for the Kanwar Yatra and Shravan festivals.
- He ordered the Meerut Zone’s Kanwar management plan to be shared with all police zones so districts implement a single, uniform approach to routes, camps and crowd control.
- District administrations were given time-bound tasks to verify Kanwar camp operators, repair damaged roads, ensure lighting, toilets and drinking water, and hold meetings with local public representatives within 48 to 72 hours.
- Security and public-health measures were strengthened through more police patrols, continuous CCTV and drone surveillance at sensitive sites, fully stocked medical camps with anti-venom and anti-rabies supplies, and closures and inspections of food outlets on routes to prevent adulteration and overcharging.
- The review also tied festival planning to routine governance by ordering fast disposal of revenue cases, immediate suspension and vigilance probes for proven corruption, and prompt resolution of consumer complaints such as electricity overbilling.
