- Citing land-revenue records, The Indian Express reported on Tuesday that members of Chief Minister Mohan Yadav’s extended family and family-run firms bought at least 137 plots totaling about 168 acres in and around Ujjain for roughly ₹45 crore after he became chief minister.
- The paper found that about 111 of those acres lie next to state-announced road projects or in areas reclassified in the Ujjain Master Plan 2035, raising conflict-of-interest concerns over whether government planning decisions could have raised the land’s value.
- The state Congress has demanded Mohan Yadav’s resignation and a judicial probe led by a sitting Supreme Court judge, while opposition leaders framed the disclosures as large-scale corruption and threatened to press the issue in the assembly.
- Relatives and some officials disputed the framing, saying the family has long been in real estate, that parts of the buying date to 2020 or earlier, and that aggregated figures cited by the opposition (up to 335 acres) are contested.
