Overview

  • Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Union Minister Jitendra Singh laid the foundation stone for the CEL-ESDS Green Data Centre in Sahibabad, Ghaziabad, on June 26.
  • Designed as a Tier-3 facility, the centre will feature 200 high-density racks per floor, a 40 Gbps ring fibre backbone, advanced monitoring systems and multi-layered security protocols.
  • The Rs 1,000 crore project is jointly funded by Central Electronics Limited and ESDS Software Solutions and is expected to create skilled jobs while attracting startups, enterprises and government users.
  • The new centre aligns with Uttar Pradesh’s plan to generate 20,000 MW of renewable energy by 2027 by leveraging CEL’s expertise in solar modules and sustainable practices.
  • CEL has transformed from near-disinvestment risk to a profit-making ‘Mini Ratna’ PSU, supplying components for BrahMos and Akash missiles and contributing Rs 21 crore in dividends to the central government.
