Yogi Adityanath Hands Over 72 EWS Flats Built on Land Reclaimed From Mukhtar Ansari in Lucknow

The project showcases the state's strategy of turning seized mafia-linked plots into subsidised housing for low-income families.

Overview

  • At a ceremony in Ekta Van, Jiyamau, Dalibagh on November 5, the chief minister inaugurated the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Housing Scheme and gave allotment letters and keys to 72 beneficiaries.
  • Developed by the Lucknow Development Authority on about 2,322 sq m recovered from the late Mukhtar Ansari, the complex comprises three G+3 blocks with 72 flats, each measuring 36.65 sq m.
  • The homes were allotted via a lottery concluded on November 4 after nearly 8,000 online registrations, with about 5,700 applicants found eligible, at a price of ₹10.70 lakh per unit.
  • Officials cast the handover as part of a zero-tolerance campaign against illegal encroachments, noting earlier demolitions on the Dalibagh plot in 2020 and the site’s prime location off Bandha Road near Hazratganj.
  • LDA accelerated finishing work, road repairs and clean-up before the event, while the CM signaled statewide expansion of similar housing efforts and announced Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Employment Centres in all 75 districts.
