Yoga Instructor Kaitlin Armstrong on Trial for Murder of Professional Cyclist Anna Wilson
Armstrong Allegedly Tracked Victim with Fitness App, Fled to Costa Rica Using Sister's Passport, and Attempted Jailbreak Prior to Trial
- Yoga instructor Kaitlin Armstrong is on trial for the murder of professional cyclist Anna Moriah “Mo” Wilson. Wilson was shot dead at a friend's residence in Austin, Texas, on May 11, 2022. Authorities believe Armstrong was motivated by romantic jealousy towards Wilson, who had briefly dated Armstrong's boyfriend, fellow professional cyclist Colin Strickland.
- Armstrong allegedly used the fitness app Strava to track Wilson's location. After the murder, Armstrong sold her Jeep and fled to Houston. She then flew to New York and subsequently to Costa Rica, using her sister's passport, where she assumed a false identity and altered her appearance.
- While in Costa Rica, Armstrong lived under a fake identity in a hostel and attempted to teach yoga under an alias. She was eventually arrested by local authorities and extradited back to the U.S., where she was charged with first-degree murder and held on a $3.5 million bond.
- Armstrong compounded her legal troubles by attempting to escape from custody during a doctor's visit earlier in the month. Video footage shows her running with her hands restrained and trying to jump a fence. She was caught and restrained by officers after approximately ten minutes.
- Strickland testified about Armstrong's intense jealousy over his brief romantic relationship with Wilson. He revealed that Armstrong kept a close eye on his communications with other women and that she had access to his personal information, including his email, Instagram, finances, and passwords.
