YMTC Sues Micron for Patent Infringement Amid US-China Tech Tensions

Micron's Revenue from China Plummets; Company Remains Committed Despite Challenges

Chinese chipmaker Yangtze Memory Technologies Co (YMTC) has filed a lawsuit against U.S. rival Micron Technology Inc for alleged infringement of eight of its patents.
The lawsuit was filed at the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, accusing Micron of using YMTC's patented technology to fend off competition and protect its market share.
The lawsuit comes at a time when U.S. has intensified its semiconductor technology restrictions on China, citing national security threats.
China, once generating half of Micron's $20 billion revenue in FY17, now only accounts for 16% of the company's revenue.
Despite the ongoing legal battle and revenue dip, Micron remains committed to China, recently showcasing its latest technologies at the China International Import Expo.
