Yellow Alert Issued as Heavy Rains Forecast Across Ukraine on Nov. 11

Emergency services caution that the downpours may complicate energy, construction, utility operations and travel.

Overview

  • The State Emergency Service issued a yellow-level warning for significant rainfall in Odesa, Mykolaiv, Kirovohrad, Dnipropetrovsk, Poltava and Kharkiv regions on Tuesday.
  • The Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center forecasts rain nationwide, with light showers in the west, moderate rain across most areas and heavier totals in the six named oblasts.
  • Temperatures are expected at 5–10°C overnight, 1–6°C in the west, and 7–12°C by day with 11–16°C in the south and east.
  • Localized fog is possible overnight and in the morning in western regions and on the Left Bank, with variable winds of 3–8 m/s.
  • Kyiv and Kyiv region are set for cloudy conditions with moderate rain and about 8–12°C, as meteorologist Natalka Didenko links the system to cyclone Niksala moving in from southwestern Europe and forecasters see a midweek tapering of precipitation.
