Yash Kumar Chauhan Provisionally Suspended After Positive Doping Test

The ban stops his Asian Games activity pending B-sample testing with a possible appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport to decide the final outcome.

Overview

  • An in-competition sample collected after Chauhan's round-of-16 90kg bout on September 27 returned an Adverse Analytical Finding, the International Testing Agency reported to the Olympic Council of Asia.
  • The OCA announced a provisional suspension on October 3 that bars Chauhan from competing, training, coaching or taking part in any Asian Games activities while the case is resolved.
  • Laboratory analysis identified metabolites of Metandienone, GW1516 and Mephentermine, substances that officials say enhance muscle growth and endurance or act as stimulants and are prohibited under the WADA Code.
  • Chauhan has the right to request B-sample analysis and to challenge the provisional suspension before the Court of Arbitration for Sport’s Anti-Doping Division under standard WADA results-management procedures.
  • Kurash at Aichi–Nagoya ran September 26–29 and India won a bronze through Pincky Balhara; this finding underscores ITA testing carried out for the OCA and means final results and any sanctions will await further testing and adjudication.
