Yaqui Traditional Medicine Clinic Opens at IMSS-Bienestar Hospital in Vícam Switch

Under doña Panchita’s leadership the consultorio weaves ancestral Yaqui herbal remedies, ritual cleansings, midwife-assisted prenatal care alongside support from 56 medical specialists into state-funded health services.

  • The Comisión Federal para la Protección contra Riesgos Sanitarios formally approved the first Indigenous traditional medicine consultorio in Mexico, which became fully operational at the IMSS-Bienestar Hospital in Vícam Switch this month.
  • President Claudia Sheinbaum inaugurated the Sonora facility on July 12 under the Plan de Justicia para el Pueblo Yaqui with over 700 million pesos invested in 30 beds, a neonatal unit and 56 medical specialists.
