Yankees Start Gerrit Cole in ALDS Game 1 at Rays

Overview

• Game 1 is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 3 at 6:30 p.m. ET at Tropicana Field and will air nationally on TBS with streaming options including HBO Max, DIRECTV and Sling.
• New York will hand the ball to Gerrit Cole while the Rays counter with Drew Rasmussen for the series opener.
• Tampa Bay closed the regular season with 98 wins and took the season series over the Yankees by a narrow margin.
• The Yankees reached the ALDS after a 2–0 Wild Card sweep of the Red Sox in which they outscored Boston 18–2 while missing Aaron Judge and without Giancarlo Stanton appearing.
• The ALDS is a best‑of‑five series with off days between games except for back‑to‑back Games 3 and 4 in the Bronx, making starting pitching, bullpen planning and the Rays’ speed and bunting tactics key factors.
