Overview

  • New York awarded Blackburn a Major League deal and activated him before the four-game set against Boston.
  • To open a spot, the club optioned right-hander Allan Winans to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
  • Manager Aaron Boone described Blackburn as bullpen “depth” who can provide “length” in a long-relief role.
  • Blackburn went 0-3 with a 6.85 ERA in seven games for the Mets this season after a 2024 spinal fluid leak and 2025 IL stints for knee inflammation and a shoulder impingement.
  • Travel delays kept him from being available Wednesday, and his role could narrow once rehabbing relievers Fernando Cruz and Ryan Yarbrough return.
