Overview
- The Yankees released right-hander Marcus Stroman on August 1, designating him a free agent eligible to sign with any club.
- New York added relievers David Bednar, Jake Bird and Camilo Doval plus infielder/outfielder José Caballero to its active roster.
- Stroman posted a 3–2 record with a 6.23 ERA and 1.538 WHIP over nine starts (39 innings) and spent 2½ months on the injured list with a left knee injury.
- By cutting Stroman the Yankees will absorb $5.61 million in dead money and forgo his $18 million 2026 vesting option.
- The rotation now consists of Max Fried, Carlos Rodón, Luis Gil returning from injury, Will Warren and rookie Cam Schlittler.
