Yankees, Mets Put Players on Waivers But Unlikely to Lose Them

The Yankees placed outfielder Harrison Bader on irrevocable waivers.
The Mets did the same with pitcher Carlos Carrasco.
The moves allow other teams to claim the players before September 1st and have them be playoff-eligible.
However, it's unlikely either player will be claimed given their remaining salaries.
The waiver moves are seen as an attempt by the New York teams to save some money.
