Overview

  • Thursday’s announcement confirmed that Fernando Cruz and Ryan Yarbrough have started rehab assignments with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
  • Fernando Cruz has posted a 3.00 ERA with 54 strikeouts in 33 innings this season and is poised to resume high-leverage late-inning work.
  • Ryan Yarbrough recorded a 3.90 ERA over 55.1 innings before his oblique strain and offers multi-inning relief or spot-start options.
  • Both relievers were sidelined by oblique strains in late June and must complete effective minor-league outings before rejoining the major-league roster.
  • New York sits at 64-57 and holds the third AL Wild Card spot as it looks to lessen heavy bullpen usage in upcoming series.
