Overview
- The river breached 205.33 metres at 2 pm Monday at the Old Railway Bridge and rose to about 205.55 metres by 6 pm, with the CWC projecting roughly 206.00 metres around 2 am Tuesday.
- Delhi activated a multi-agency response as Chief Minister Rekha Gupta inspected ghats, regulators and the flood control room, and officials kept NDRF, civic bodies and police on high alert.
- Relief camps were readied in six districts, 14 boats and other gear were deployed, and authorities told floodplain residents to prepare for relocation once 206 metres triggers evacuation.
- Officials attributed the surge to sustained releases from Hathnikund and Wazirabad, noting a Hathnikund peak of 178,996 cusecs on Sunday and an upstream travel time of 48–50 hours.
- Heavy rain also caused local flooding and an embankment breach on Haryana’s Som River, while last year’s 208.66‑metre peak frames current risk planning.
