Overview
- On Monday morning the Yamuna in Delhi measured between 204.6 m and 205.24 m at the Old Railway Bridge, exceeding the 204.5 m warning level.
- All 18 gates of the Hathnikund barrage were opened, releasing about 1.78 lakh cusecs of water that takes roughly 48–50 hours to reach Delhi.
- The CWC forecasts a peak of around 205.7 m by Monday evening and warns the river may hit 206.0 m by 2 a.m. on August 19, which would trigger evacuations.
- Disaster-response teams including NDRF, SDRF and NDMA have been mobilised, rail speed restrictions are in place on the Old Railway Bridge and low-lying areas have been warned to prepare for evacuation.
- Continued rainfall in the upper catchment and potential further upstream releases could push levels higher and extend the flood risk window beyond early Tuesday.
