Overview
- The Wazirabad pondage has dropped to about 668.5–668.7 feet, close to the 2021 low, and the two largest treatment plants are operating well below capacity because of reduced raw intake.
- On Tuesday Haryana released roughly 979.5 cusecs into the canal network and Delhi diverted water from Munak and Haiderpur while deploying tankers, pumps and temporary channel works to sustain plant intake.
- DJB has cut and rationed supplies so tail-end areas in north, central and west Delhi now face low pressure and short supply, with residents reporting irregular flows and tankers stretched thin.
- Officials point to a persistent gap between demand (about 1,250 MGD) and regular supply (around 1,000–1,050 MGD), large transmission losses estimated near 800 cusecs, and delayed projects such as Wazirabad desilting and a parallel carrier that would improve delivery.
