The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), National Cadet Corps (NCC), and volunteers have also been ordered to remain on alert.

Overview

  • At 8 am Tuesday, the Yamuna stood at 205.79 metres at the Old Railway Bridge, just shy of the 206-metre evacuation trigger after crossing the danger mark a day earlier.
  • Water entered parts of Yamuna Bazar, with families in floodplain pockets beginning to move and relief camps opened across six districts.
  • The Central Water Commission forecast a near-term rise toward about 206 metres as Delhi deployed 14 boats, activated control rooms and carried out field inspections.
  • Heavy inflows from the upper catchment and large hourly discharges from the Hathnikund and Wazirabad barrages drove the surge, peaking at 178,996 cusecs at Hathnikund, with releases typically taking 48–50 hours to reach Delhi.
  • Officials said efforts focus on keeping water off main roads with desilted drains and open ITO barrage gates, while 12,000–15,000 residents are identified as potentially affected.
