Yale Launches New Smart Lock Tailored for Renters

The Yale Approach, a retrofit smart lock, offers easy installation and compatibility with existing hardware, making it ideal for rental properties.

Yale's new Yale Approach lock is designed specifically for renters, attaching to the interior of existing deadbolts without requiring full replacement.
The lock features Wi-Fi connectivity and will support the new smart home standard Matter-over-Thread later this year.
A separate Yale Keypad, which works with the Yale Approach, allows for entry via personalized codes and will also have a biometric version soon.
The Yale Approach is compatible with major smart home platforms, except Apple Home, and offers functionalities like auto-locking and remote access.
Yale asserts the new lock resembles the $200 August Smart Lock + Connect but is slimmer and more affordable.
